Our good friends and neighbors across the street invited the boys and I out to their house on a lake in central Michigan for a few days. I was a little hesitant to make the trip by myself, but I am so glad that we did. We absolutely loved it! I am recommitted to owning a boat and seadoos someday. They are so much fun and a great way to spend time with friends and family. This was the first time this summer that I really felt like I was on vacation. Thomas was a wild man. He intertubed, jet skiied and swam to his heart's content. Hewitt was happy to swim and sit on the boat. He did go on the sea doo with me one time, but got nervous when I went over 20. Donny was an angel on the boat and even ventured naked into the water. Julie was the greatest teacher and even managed to pull me up skiing. Thanks so much Shelly and Julie!!!

We also enjoyed hanging out at night. Shelly cooked up the most perfectly roasted marshmellows for smores and Julie introduced me to the joys of peanut butter. Grandma enforced my kids staying in bed while we played cards and watched a movie at night. I was in heaven.

How fun is that? I need to get me some friends with a lake house. Although I guess we live within very short range of two beautiful lakes that we frequent...so I guess I can't complain.
Also, I am impressed that you were able to get up water skiing. The last time I tried I was a miserable failure, which I attributed to a shifted center of gravity after childbirth. It's possible, though, that I am just lame. :) You are all woman.
That sounds like a great vacation! We want a boat and sea doos also. We need to head out to Banks each summer together, in about 10 years!
I have a lake house! Come visit!!! :)
Fun! We're a little lacking in "boating and water" department right now...I'm so jealous. Looks like we'll be visiting you for that when you get those seadoos(:
I love the pictures! How fun! Also, I must ask, how did you get your pictures to be side by side? I could not figure it out on my blog the other day.
hey! i just found your blog via erika's...i didn't know you had one! looks like you are having fun in detroit. cute family!
I can totally see Thomas doing all those things, he is probably a better water skier than me already. Grant can finally ride his trike without just walking beside it. But there is no way he would get on an innertube. I think Grant is more like Hewitt. What a fun trip. Looks like we've been replaced in the neighbor dept. I see how it is.
What a great adventure for your kids. I'm jealous. I wish it were still summer.
